 Services

 These are the services that the landfill currently offers.

Notice: the landfill staff or equipment will not provide assistance in unloading your waste. Please make other arrangements if you have heavy or bulky items to dispose of.

Mattress Recycling

Starting October 1st 2024, The Rock Springs Landfill will be partnering with Spring Back to begin recycling mattresses.

There will be no charge for this service to in district residents. Again, this will be a free service for all in district residents.

For out of district residents and all businesses there will be a $35 per mattress charge.

The charge will be for mattresses only as box springs will still be disposed of in the main disposal area.

Residents and businesses disposing of mattresses will be required to offload their mattresses onto a pallet inside of a Connex container. The process will be simple so please separate your mattresses from your other trash before you come to the landfill.

For businesses, please be aware that the landfill will not be accepting bin loads or “dumped” loads of mattresses. Businesses will be required to load their mattresses onto pallets inside the Connex container as well.

We are excited to provide this service of diverting mattresses and repurposing them for other uses instead of putting them in the landfill. Thank you for helping us make this happen.

Please report all mattresses to the Scale House Attendant.

To better aid the community and reduce the risk of fire, the Rock Springs Landfill will now be accepting and recycling the following types of batteries;

Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) batteries. These are the batteries most common in cell phones, tablets, laptop computers and some rechargeable power tools. The landfill will also be accepting and recycling whole cell phones.

Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) and Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries. These are the batteries found in older rechargeable power tools and some children's toys.

There will be no charge to residents for this service.

Batteries to be recycled cannot be damaged or leaking and can weigh no more than 25 pounds.

Please report these types of batteries to the Scale House Attendant and they will direct you where to put them.

Thank you for helping us divert these problem batteries and making the landfill and the community safer.
